Execution is the end and fruit of the law.

Explanation

A law that is not executed is as if it did not exist — the entire purpose of law is fulfilled only when its commands are carried into effect. (Duplicate maxim — see also 11.1.13, 8.9.2.)

Where this applies

• A court issues a judgment but nobody enforces it.
• A winning party cannot get the sheriff to carry out the court order.
