Explanation

A plea is defined by what is actually stated — the court will not supply allegations the pleader failed to make.

Where this applies

• My legal complaint only covers what I actually stated — the court won't add claims I forgot.
• The plea is defined by its actual words — I can't add arguments after the fact.
