What I approve I do not reject.

Explanation

A man cannot take the benefit of an instrument or transaction while simultaneously repudiating its burdens — he must accept the whole or reject the whole.

Where this applies

  • My business partner wants to keep the profits but refuses to share in the losses.
  • I accepted the benefits of the contract — I can't now reject its obligations.
