Maxim 6.7.2

No one can confirm a right before the right accrues to him.

Confirmare nemo potest priusquam jus ei acciderit.

Explanation

A man cannot ratify or confirm what he has no authority over — premature confirmation is a nullity.

Where this applies

  • A stranger tried to ratify my sale of property — but it's not their property to confirm.
  • Someone who has no interest in the deal is trying to approve the transaction.
