Explanation

An allegation, a grant, or an instrument so vague that its meaning cannot be ascertained is treated as if it does not exist.

Where this applies

• The agreement is so vague that nobody can figure out what it requires.
• A grant or claim so uncertain it can't be understood is treated as nothing.
• Vague and indefinite things are held to be legally nonexistent.
