Money being restored does not set free the party offering.

Explanation

The return of money does not discharge a person from the obligation that gave rise to the payment — the underlying duty survives the refund.

Where this applies

  • A creditor returns money but claims the debtor is still obligated.
  • Someone refunds a payment but says the underlying obligation remains.
